What matters here is not so much the formal result on the surface of the canvas, as the impression of the time left by the artist’s gesture. It requires to paint faster than the painting itself which does not mean painting at full speed or letting anything paint. Therefore, there is no more space, depth, hierarchy, continuity, representation, EVERYTHING IS “TRACE”.
